Rachel is skilled at helping clients of all ages. In addition to working with couples, she counsels young children, teens, adults, and seniors. She found her calling in the mental health field in 2004 after spending the first part of her career in the business world. She offers the effective combination of a warm and caring environment with a focus on finding solutions to each client's unique dilemmas and life challenges. Whether working with individuals or couples, Rachel incorporates a blend of "Family Systems" work with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) elements to help clients reach their goals. The Family Systems theory views the family as an emotional unit and believes a change in one person's behavior is predictably followed by reciprocal changes in the behavior of other family members. CBT helps clients identify distorted thinking patterns that are getting in the way of leading a more fulfilling life. In her post-graduate work, Rachel provided counseling at the UT Southwestern Family Studies Center and a DISD Youth and Family Center. She is highly skilled in play therapy and art therapy. Rachel is committed to helping each and every client receive all the benefits they can from the therapeutic experience. She is married and has two young children.
